Meet Our Founder
Hello, My name is Nichole Barros...
My idea for this non-profit started about 25 years ago when I read an article in a magazine about the importance of staying connected with your girlfriends and how important that is for your own mental health - being there for each other through everyday life struggles. Back then after reading the article, I would get together once a month with 5 of my girlfriends at my house. Over food, we would vent, cry, laugh, and just be there for each other. We all felt the need of being connected and knowing that we weren’t alone and we could get through whatever life challenges were thrown at us. Fast forward to 2023, Janiche - Empowering Women, Inc. was born.
